A woman who cooks delicious food worth gossiping about.

Hi! My name is Michelle and I am the cook, recipe developer, photographer and blogger behind The Yummy Yenta. I came up with the name years ago with the hope of realizing my dream of being able to cook and share my recipes on a larger platform. Flash forward many years and after getting married and having 2 children who are now of school age, I found myself wanting more. So as a New Year’s resolution for 2019, I decided I am going to give this dream my all and set myself up with an Instagram page. I got such a great response rather quickly that I decided to get my official blog up and running and I’m so excited to see where this journey will take me.

Growing up I was always surrounded by Jewish style food, especially from my Bubbie. She was then, and still is now, an amazing cook and makes everything from scratch using simple ingredients. As a teen, I really enjoyed watching cooking shows and would soak in as much information as possible. Once I got married and had my own home, I was able to start experimenting on a regular basis with cooking and baking. Since then, I have evolved and come a LONG way. I do not like to niche myself into any food style as I enjoy experimenting and trying lots of different flavours.

I do hope, as a conservative Jew, I can bring something different to the table. I’m hoping to share fabulous, traditional, kosher style recipes that can be tweaked to suit everyone’s personal family customs and traditions. I am a proud traditional, Jewish woman, and I hope that reflects in my cooking.

When I’m not cooking and creating recipes, I am a part time dental hygienist, and a full-time wife and mom. My hobbies include home decorating, watching TV, gossiping (obviously) with my girl friends, and cooking... duh!  I love spending time with my family, especially my 2 boys, having great hometown adventures and travelling when we can. I would like to thank my parents for always being great role models on what it is like to be hard working, caring and generous. And I would especially like to thank my husband, Dan, who has been my biggest cheerleader and supporter through the start of this crazy food blogger, recipe developer, home cooking journey I’m about to embark on.

I promise to ALWAYS share, create and cook great recipes that are worth gossiping about!

Feel free to contact me for collaborations, partnership opportunities or photo and recipe development. I look forward to hearing from you!
